 Asphalt Testing Equipments : STAND-ALONE SERVO-PNEUMATIC FOUR POINT BENDING (4PB) SYSTEM

Four point bending is mainly used to measure bond strength. The advantage of a four point flexural test is that it enables uniform distribution between the loading noses. Here, a maximum uniform moment and a tension area at the bottom of the specimen are achieved. Usually, failure is always seen at the brick mortar interface and generally occurs at the center joint of the specimen.


A standalone four point bending beam machine is the ideal piece of equipment for conducting the four point flexural test. This test is mostly used in order to measure the stiffness modulus and assess the resistance of asphalt paving materials. It is also used for brittle materials like ceramic that do not fail within the limits of three-point loading.
